Downhole ESP Gauges are very beneficial for optimizing production and maxumizing the run life of an ESP.

Gauges will measure 3 to 12 different items which could include:  

-          Well Temperature

-          Well Pressure

-          Current Leakage

-          Y-Point Voltage

-          Motor Vibration

-          Motor Temperature

-          Intake Temperature

-          Intake Pressure

-          Intake Vibration

-          Discharge Temperature

-          Discharge Pressure

-          Discharge Vibration

-          Reservoir Intake Temperature

-          Reservoir Pressure

-          Reservoir Vibration

It is very common for downhole gauges to be run with an ESP because an extra instrument wire does not need to be installed. The gauge hung off the bottom of the motor is powered through the ESP cable and the signal from the gauge is measured through the ESP cable.

Gauge selection needs to take into account well fluids, temperature and the accuracy requirement of the gauges.
